A group of ten found guilty of digital abuse directed at Brigitte Macron

A French judicial body has ruled against ten people for engaging in the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the partner of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The defendants faced charges of circulating false claims regarding her gender identity and sexual orientation, in addition to publishing malicious remarks about the husband and wife's 24-year age gap.
The court handed down suspended prison sentences of a maximum of eight months to the defendants. The complete verdict has not yet been published.
A persistent unfounded claim claiming that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has existed since her husband's initial election in 2017.
This recent ruling in France is concurrent with the Macrons initiating a legal action for defamation in the United States of America against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has also voiced analogous false narratives about the French president's wife's biological sex.
Their lawsuit contends that Owens ignored substantial counter-evidence contradicting her allegations choosing instead to give a platform to established defamers.
Owens has regularly repeated these claims on her show and online platforms, and in March 2024 declared that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her insistence that Mrs. Macron was born a man.
Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her current spouse when she taught at his lycée.
The pair married in 2007, when the then-29-year-old Emmanuel Macron was 29 and she was in her mid-50s.
