Former Physician Charged with Sexual Assault Allegations Against 38 Patients
Legal authorities report that a ex- physician has been charged with performing sexual assaults against 38 victims who were patients.
Details of the Grave Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous acts of sexual assault – comprising acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.
A deputy chief CPS official said, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Police Inquiry
These allegations follow what police called a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

Prosecutors outline the 45 charges comprise:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
