Iran Reports Assault on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed strikes across the region in retaliation for a large-scale and ongoing assault against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone near the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any destruction is uncertain and the American officials has not commented.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house US military bases - stated they have shot down incoming projectiles in their air space.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
IRGC Statement
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on the Islamic Republic initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on locations linked to the the regime, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to rise up against the government.
Additional Developments
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a series of missiles," the statement continued.
It said missile fragments landed in a residential area in the capital, resulting in some property damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
