Rob Edwards along with Gary O'Neil are two of the early names under consideration to succeed the former manager as manager of Wolves.
Pereira was sacked on the weekend after the squad's ten-game without a victory start to the top-flight season.
And Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have historic links to the team - are among the names to be considered by the Wolves leadership.
The manager is presently at another club, which would pose a potential hurdle to his hiring at Wolves' stadium.
Nevertheless the former Luton Town manager - who played over a century of games for the club during his playing career - is said to be a strong contender for the position.
The 42-year-old is said to have support from the Wolves directors as they start the search of appointing a new head coach.
O'Neil is also appearing as a surprise candidate, although he would be a shock appointment considering he was sacked by Wolves in December last year.
The former West Ham player is out of work meaning Wolves would not be required to pay any buyout fee.
