The network's Leading New Show of 2025 Gets a Substantial Extension for an Additional Two Seasons.
Last October, Adult Swim saw the return of its unconventional hit, Smiling Friends. But, later that same month, the network introduced a fresh animated series with a distinctly unique tone. Haha, You Clowns emerged as heartwarming and calm, evoking a cartoon version of a serene talk show. At a time often defined by bleakness, this show's earnestness struck a chord and helped it become a breakout hit.
A Significant Investment
On December 18th, Adult Swim revealed exciting news: Haha, You Clowns has been renewed for a further two seasons. This offers creator Joe Cappa significant creative freedom to expand upon the world of the Campbell family. The series focuses on three respectful teenage brothers whose defining trait is their deep love for their widowed father, with Cappa voicing for all four main characters.
"I’m so grateful to the viewers of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and helped it grow," remarked Cappa. "It's thrilling that I get to hang out at the Campbell household for the foreseeable future."
Executive Acclaim
Accompanying the news praise from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "radically heartfelt and strangely uncanny." He thanked the fans who found the show and supported its peculiarly charming sensibility.
"All of you supported this new show, praised it on social media, and grew it week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," commented Ouweleen. "To quote: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"
A Different Kind of Comedy
Upon its debut, Haha, You Clowns was hailed as "a wholesome alternative" to more cynical adult animated fare. Viewers found something unexpectedly cozy about following this lovable family navigate their daily lives.
At the time, creator Joe Cappa stated his desire to move the comedy genre beyond its current sarcastic tone. He traced this trend to various cultural shifts.
“We're stuck in a cycle of irony that we are trapped in,” said Cappa. “It feels as if we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for a decade, and we need to laugh at something different now. Comedy has to evolve.”

With this renewal, with Haha, You Clowns locked in for the future, Cappa may well be part of that comedic shift. If nothing else, the renewal ensures audiences more opportunities to experience the gentle humor of the unique Campbell clan.
