Former President Donald Trump revealed on the weekend that he has invited the loved ones of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to come to the executive mansion.

He mentioned that he spoke to her family and they were “heartbroken”.

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a attack on last Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her fellow service member, Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in grave state.

The commander-in-chief explained he’s discussed a meeting at the presidential residence for the loved ones of both soldiers of the state Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a tough thing, come to the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” Trump told reporters. “And similarly with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”

Community Support

Attendees came together over the weekend at the high school in West Virginia to remember Sarah.

Both the soldiers had been serving with the military unit as part of the president’s federal initiative to support law enforcement in the capital.

“She was the kind of student that educators wished for. She behaved with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a positive energy that inspired people around her,” the principal, the leader of her former high school, stated to the Associated Press. “She was kind, caring and always eager to assist people.”

Funeral plans for Beckstrom are still being arranged.

Legal Steps and Policy Changes

Officials have accused a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with a charge of homicide and two counts of violent assault while armed.

The tragedy prompted the administration to halt asylum processing and temporarily stop providing visas to possessors of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of the Airman

Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, began his service in 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, per the Associated Press.

He continues to receive treatment and is “fighting for his life”, West Virginia governor Morrisey mentioned on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

Attorney general Bondi informed the program that she planned to meet with Wolfe’s family.

Legacy of Beckstrom

Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from her high school in June 2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a military police officer with excellence, as stated by the military.

“She had a lot of compassion and she definitely had bravery,” he told the audience at the vigil. “Though her time was cut short, she has left a mark that’s going to endure.”
