Baroque Works is poised to play a huge role in Netflix’s upcoming season of One Piece, though the true confrontation isn’t set to occur until the third season, and a cherished, fan-favorite member has now been chosen.

The platform declared this week that the skilled actor has joined the One Piece season 3 cast and will portray Mr. 2. The role has the ability to morph into an identical duplicate of any person they’ve laid a hand on with their dominant hand. The performer, who is gender non-conforming and uses they/them pronouns, will play a version of that role reinterpreted as gender non-binary, instead of as a drag artist, in the live-action series, unlike the source material and anime.

This performer joins several other fresh additions tasked with bringing the group to the screen, including leader the main antagonist, brought to life by the seasoned performer, Sophia Anne Caruso as a key member, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who also joins the cast as King Nefertari Cobra of the desert kingdom.

Although this character is a important part of the group, the individual won’t appear until One Piece season 3. Given the second season likely to portray the Little Garden segment, this signals a notable change in the timing of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could indicate further changes to the plot development.

The actor’s combination of precise humor and profound feeling makes them a standout choice for the part. Along with their recent voice performance in the animated feature Boys Go to Jupiter, they earned widespread acclaim and numerous honors for creating and performing in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, showcasing the adaptability they’ll bring to one of One Piece’s widely praised characters.

The streaming service’s real-life One Piece show is scheduled to come back for its second season on March 10th, 2026.
